Tomorrow, the Cross Solent Transport meetings start.

These will include our MPs, IOW council, VIOW, the ferry and Hovertravel companies, other stakeholders and a representative from the Department of Transport. We will also have a seat at the table. The only grassroots organisation representing the island.

We will be asked what we feel is necessary.

We have a number of wishes:

• A minimum service agreement which addresses the essential need for a lifeline service, that benefits users, rather than as a profit making service which prioritises shareholders.
• The eradication of dynamic pricing
• Introduction of fixed cost crossings (in line with Hovertravel)
• Preferential rates for islanders and their families, with price caps in line with train fare increases
• A Delay Repay type scheme to compensate for cancellations and delay
• Guaranteed travel from Fishbourne when the catamaran has been cancelled and the car ferry is necessary
• Disabled discounts extended for multilink passes
• Half hourly foot crossings during peak hours
• Fast cat and Redjet to meet later evening train arrivals from Gatwick, Victoria, Waterloo and Cardiff
• Extended foot passenger services until midnight
• Multilink passes extended to eighteen months
• Allocation restrictions on multilink passes removed, enabling islanders to access all crossings without impediment
• Preferential rates for all service workers (including social and care workers) to promote and ease burden for key workers

We have over 1700 survey responses which detail clearly we have your support.
